Digestive complaints
In the Netherlands about 1 in 5 people regularly suffer from digestive complaints. For many of these complaints there is no clear medical cause known. And through conventional medicine there is often not much more to be done about this than symptom relief.
Symptoms that point to a disruption in the digestive system can be:
- Chronic constipation
- Chronic loose stools or diarrhoea
- Chronic heartburn
- Frequent nausea
- Frequent belching
- Flatulence
- Bloated feeling in the stomach and/or intestinal area
- Pain in the stomach and/or intestinal area
- Little appetite or, conversely, constant hunger
- Blood and/or mucus in the stool
- Pain when defecating
Many of these complaints are seen in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, in ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, but they can also be present without a clear disease picture.
Causes that can lead to or aggravate disturbed digestion include, among others:
- Unhealthy eating pattern
- Stress and tension
- Too little sleep
- Eating in a hurry
- Eating too much
- Infection
At the Greenleaf practice we can, through acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle advice, in many cases make a major contribution to the recovery or improvement of your digestive complaints.
In addition, we also treat all accompanying complaints. Go to the treatments page for an overview of the complaints that we treat. For questions or to make an appointment, you can use the chat function, telephone or email.
