Cystitis

Cystitis or a urinary tract infection is an inflammation of the urinary tract, usually caused by an infection with the E. coli bacterium, which can enter the urethra and bladder. This bacterium occurs in our gut flora and therefore also around the anus. It occurs much more often in women than in men, because women have a shorter urethra and a greater chance of contamination from the anus. About twenty per cent of women suffer from it at least once a year.

How can we help?

In most cases acupuncture and herbal medicine work very effectively in fighting a bladder infection. It does this, among other things, by restoring kidney and bladder function, calming the inflammation and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles. We offer a good alternative to antibiotics, since antibiotics have an adverse effect on the gut flora and often cannot prevent a recurring bladder infection. Acupuncture and herbal medicine, on the other hand, have no adverse effect on the body and ensure that a new bladder infection does not arise easily.

In addition, we also treat as many accompanying complaints as possible. Go to the treatments page for an overview of complaints that we treat. For questions or to make an appointment, you can use the chat function, telephone or email.
